Step Up for Autism Walk- completed

Again- thank you all for your donations.  All of the money raised from my occupational therapy autism awareness owl necklace was donated this weekend.  I’m posting a few of the pictures of my friends that walked with me.  It rained a ton the morning of the walk but we still enjoyed ourselves.  We were lucky that the rain only delayed the walk/run by 20 minutes.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Enjoy my bright orange poncho.

Money Donated to “Little Friends, Inc.”

Thanks everyone for purchasing the “Occupational Therapy Awareness Owl Necklace“.  All the money I have raised so far has been donated to a local organization called “Little Friends, Inc“.  I appreciate your donations (through purchasing my OT owl necklace) and will continue to support the local community in any way that I can.  You can join me walking on June 27th as I walk to raise more money for autism at the Step up for autism walk in Naperville, IL.

Thanks everyone!

Occupational therapy enables people of all ages live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability. It is a practice deeply rooted in science and is evidence-based, meaning that the plan designed for each individual is supported by data, experience, and “best practices” that have been developed and proven over time.

Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants focus on “doing” whatever occupations or activities are meaningful to the individual. It is occupational therapy’s purpose to get beyond problems to the solutions that assure living life to its fullest. These solutions may be adaptations for how to do a task, changes to the surroundings, or helping individuals to alter their own behaviors.

Thank you for AOTA for that helpful information (2010).
